A tough location. Full of mirrors, no place to hide lights.
Parvati Bai (Kriti Sanon) walks into this room with a lamp in her hand. I decided to add some colour into the space and the lamp became red.
I thought it would be interesting to start from darkness and reveal the space as she walks in. The only source she is carrying will reflect in all the mirrors and light up the room.
The reflections need to move to make the lighting believable.
So my lighting design incorporated different clusters of hanging lights connected to different dimmer units.
My team operated them on cue as she walked in. Some of the bulbs were wrapped in red colour gel to create the effect of the red lamp.
Finally we lit up this place with 36 - 100w regular bulbs and six 5k dimmers.
